Brad Childress said he decided to retire last month when he left the Kansas City Chiefs, but he reportedly changed his mind.
According to ESPN on Monday, Childress is expected to join the Chicago Bears as an offensive consultant under new head coach Matt Nagy.
Nagy was Kansas City's offensive coordinator for the last two seasons and worked with Childress on Andy Reid's staff since 2013. Nagy and Childress shared responsibilities with Kansas City once Doug Pederson took the head coaching job with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Before serving as Kansas City's assistant head coach last season and its co-offensive coordinator with Nagy in 2016, Childress was a spread game analyst and special projects coordinator with the Chiefs from 2013 to 2015. He is expected to handle a similar role with Chicago.
Childress is returning to the NFC North, where he posted a 39-35 mark in four-plus seasons as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings. He was fired from Minnesota after a 31-3 loss to Green Bay on Nov. 22, 2010.
